Richard and I first met when he was President of Tower Records. Our friendship and working relationship grew out of mutual respect and a vision to combine the greatness of our industry in the past with current and future trends and artists. Our sincere goal is to provide the same experience we had with the listeners and lovers of today's music.
He is one of the smartest, energetic and, most importantly, ethical people I have met in my 40+ year history in the music industry. His honesty and caring for those he touches is life-long, and he will be a friend forever. He is an incredible family man - he and his wife educate their children, he spends time with them, but never loses focus concerning business. He mentioned once that he has 24 hours a day to get done what needs to be done.
I have told him that if he was involved in the music industry handling artists a long time ago I truly believe that he would have had a major impact on many of the issues that artists from the 60's through 80's have due to less than honesty in the business.

I have known Rick for over 25 years and he has been a source of inspiration, honest feedback and knowledge. Our paths were somewhat similar as we both went from Senior Management/Executives to entrepreneurs.
When my company went on the market it became obvious that we were not maximizing its worth for potential purchasers/investors. Ironically, at the same time Rick was selling and leaving his company. It is a long story he can share with you.
Rick came in and conducted a thorough review of the entire organization from an unbiased point of view. We decided that the best return would be for him to "turnaround" one of our divisions, USA MailNow. It was a multi-million dollar division that was stagnant in sales and losing customers because of a lack of execution.
In the six or so months he led the division, it became a legitimate and strong added value to the offering. Again, I will let Rick provide the numbers, which I can verify. He also was a part of our Senior Team throughout the due diligence process.
Maybe it's because we knew each other so well, whether it be philosophies, strengths and weaknesses, but the general knowledge of knowing what the result will be allowed me to concentrate on other areas of the sale.
Finally, Rick's management and leadership style is unique in that every staff member knew the big picture and where he believed they would fit into it. He always had a philosophy that "An employee should never be surprised when the have a management review." He is not a "me" manager, but a team manager that mentors and counsels those that (as he says) may be happier in a different position.
Maybe I am biased because he is a friend, but the results are what matters.

Richard Flynn and I started talking when he was at Tower Records, and we've continued to have a great collaborative business relationship over the past two years. He is extremely personable, smart, and has a well-earned perspective on the music industry from his background. I thoroughly enjoy his style and view on the market, and think he would be an asset as an advisor or leader.

I had a great experience with Richard's company, PowerMax. Their customer service was excellent, and they made me a very satisfied customer of me. I will surely be a repeat client. Its refreshing to deal with a company whose leadership is engaged and attentive to the business. I highly recommend doing business with them.

I and my business partner had numerous conference calls with Richard discussing a business venture that we were working on, and Richard's insight and keen sense of promotion/logistics/organization/financial realities, helped us to focus and understand our plan in much clearer detail. With his advice, we are continuing on and making excellent progress!

I worked with Richard as a partner providing content solutions for Tower.com.
Richard had a unique vision for Tower.com, and together we negotiated a partnership designed to engage users, provide new and exciting discovery tools, and more.
Richard's passion for Tower's audience was always put first with every idea and decision we made together. He had a keen understanding of the Key Performance Indicators for the site and what was necessary to evolve and grow the service.
I would highly recommend Richard as a valuable asset to any team responsible for user experience and retention.
~ Damian Francis, Director of Sales at Senzari
“Richard is a creative thinker who can devise innovative solutions and concrete tactical plans while balancing an efficient and economical performance in relation to company's year-end goals and long term strategy. I have worked directly for Richard for many years and have been impressed by his tireless energy in approaching his work. He has an incredible work ethic and always either manages to plow through any challenges or recommends new approach to solve any barriers. I miss working with Richard and would look forward to any opportunity to work side-by-side with him again. I recommend him highly as he is an incredible performer, a out-of-the-box intellect, and a pleasant and personable colleague.”
~ Yen Sullivan, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development at Relevate Auto
One of the more knowledgeable executives I have had the pleasure to work for. Rick's natural leadership abilities, forward thinking, and understanding of market drivers and conditions allowed him to take a "novelty" industry and turn it into something on a much larger scale. His pioneering leadership within the high-end electronics and vinyl ecommerce niche provided opportunities for other organizations to enter, expand and move this retail sector into a viable profitable electronic business.”

Richard Flynn and I crossed paths a few years back when I reached out to him regarding the tragedy of losing his father. I too, had recently lost my father and had read a post Richard made on Facebook that compelled me to share my experience with him. Watching someone so influential in our lives, as our fathers, go through a long illness and ultimately, death, is an experience like no other. The sadness is profound and the ability to glean something positive seems insurmountable, yet, it can be done.
So, here I was talking to a stranger about what I learned from my experience. It seemed so invasive and presumptuous, but Richard conveyed an honesty in his posting that prompted me to offer support. I soon found myself becoming fast friends with Richard, as we shared our losses and spoke of the positive: our families, life and of course, music.
As an artist I have always looked for honesty as the the lowest common denominator in a person's character. For without it you can not truly love, give selflessly, or create. Richard struck me as one of those individuals who honestly believes in what he loves, and loves what he believes. Facebook seemed like such an odd portal to kindle this friendship but I was drawn into the conversation by Richard's honesty, for which I have no regrets.
